What Interpreting Needs Now

We recently conducted a large study for which we examined the interpreting markets in 12 different countries. We assessed how the interpreting markets are run, what drives interpreting, and what trends, challenges and opportunities stand out. Based on our research, we identified the following three things the interpreting market needs now.

PR and Lobbying

PR & lobbying

The interpreting services in every country are highly influenced by who needs the service and in what kind of situation. This is driven by the level of immigration, the country’s international relations and the economy.

Sales Training

Sales Training

The industry is currently driven by procurement and not by sales. This is why pricing is so much of an issue. Good sales will deliver value and provides a more professional approach. Large providers like LanguageLine Solutions have already embraced this and invested in strong sales teams.

Infrastructure

The infrastructure

A better internet connection in remote areas and public settings is needed to allow for VRI to take off and expand the market. 5G is expected to be a game-changer for this and much, much more.

Of course, all of these changes might create new challenges, like new equipment standards for VRI, but that is just the nature of the game. It is important to remember that every challenge and every gap is an opportunity that presents room for growth – and there is still plenty of that.
