info_outline About

YiCAT is a CAT-tool and a TMS launched in May 2018 by Tmxmall, a Chinese company behind Tmxmall.com, a translation memory marketplace. It complements the company’s prime offering and reduces dependency on third-party software. Now, translators can use Tmxmall even if they don’t have a CAT-tool with an integration.

Before deploying their own CAT-tool, Tmxmall operated via plugins to 5 third-party tools, such as Trados, memoQ. Translators connect to the marketplace and get matches for their jobs; they pay per match. The marketplace charges $1.5 per 1000 words, and takes 10% commission, while 90% goes to the memory’s uploader.

Best for

At launch, the developers focused on functionality maximizing leverage. Besides a native integration with TM marketplace, they have completed 12 machine translation integrations primarily with Chinese engines that are not present in Western CAT-tools. With a huge Shared public TM and unique set of MT engines, YiCAT is well-positioned to provide high leverage in Asian translation projects, especially projects with a large portion of new words.

History

Shanghai Yizhe InfoTech Co., Ltd was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Shanghai.  In 2018, 30 people worked in Tmxmall company, about half of them – developers.
