Cloud-based solution Smartling is both a BMS and a translation environment. Among other features, it includes APIs, content connectors, web proxy, and content distribution network. They have recently redesigned translation management platform to include features such as Dynamic Workflows, Smartling Draft, and an automatic MT engine selection based on the source and target languages. Smartling also offers reporting on team productivity and a widget for WordPress that aims to simplify website localization process.

Smartling is mostly focusing on the Enterprise sector. But they do not disclose exact figures for the Enterprise scenario. When forming a price for their buyers, Smartling aims to focus on what’s important to this specific buyer. This results in no such thing as “an average deal size”: they claim to have customers with a size of a deal which equals USD 24 000, as well as those who pay USD 1 million.

A built-in QA feature available in the online editor performs a basic QA check, spotting missing tags, incorrect spacing, incorrect terminology, etc. It is possible to download and upload offline files.

Initiated as a technology-only company, Smartling now includes language services and personalized configuration and management help through a Platinum Support offering.
