memoQ is a leading collaborative translation environment and TMS delivering premium solutions to the translation industry since 2004. memoQ is dedicated to providing innovation through diverse developments that empower enterprises, translation companies, and freelance translators worldwide.
Keeping in mind both simplicity and effective translation processes, memoQ leverages its ease of use, collaboration, and interoperability in one complex solution.
In addition to the features mentioned below, memoQ developed a number of other components:
- a TMS with project management functionality and workflow automation
- a hosted SaaS memoQ TMS private cloud
- a web-based translation interface
- Qterm – a terminology management tool
- Language Terminal – a collaboration / TM sharing tool
- The Regex Assistant
- Organizations interested in high translator satisfaction & productivity
- LSPs that receive localization packages from multiple buyers in different formats and want to process them in a single interoperable system
- Buyers with proprietary systems that require custom integrations
LSPs often use memoQ paired with Plunet or XTRF, where memoQ provides language management and the other system provides project management.
memoQ’s advantage is the tremendous popularity with the professional translators in Europe. The development team catered to the translator needs more than other systems. Multiple file filters, interface and shortcut customization, an integration with voice technology, strong alignment, and concordance search denote the desktop editor. Moreover, memoQ boasts strong operability with other TMS/CAT-tools. Therefore its common for some translators to receive tasks in a different TMS, then export files and translate inside memoQ workbench.
memoQ has a number of advanced translation memory features, including:
- an ability to enhance TMs from raw reference materials
- Autocorrection of the source text to improve match rate
- Predictive typing with subsegment-leverage regex-based auto translation rules
In integrations, memoQ has a different strategy from other top-tier TMS, prioritizing custom over pre-built integrations. memoQ TMS is prioritizing custom over pre-built integrations. The company instead develops own API/SDKs and provides custom integrations as a service. There are:
- SDKs for integration
- Quality Assurance SDK
- Machine Translation SDK
- Translation Memory SDK
- Preview SDK
- Term Base SDK
It all started in Hungary in 2004, when three passionate language technologists worked on machine translation and spellchecking-related projects at a publishing company that issued Microsoft Press Books. They imagined a new translation technology environment that places collaboration in the center of the scope.
Since then, memoQ has grown to become one of the world’s leading translation management systems, and has added hundreds of features that have made translation work easy and simple. Today, with more than 100 employees, the team is working hard to continuously improve the software with careful consideration of user needs.
In 2019, memoQ opened an office in Toronto, Canada, and launched the Gaming Unit to dedicate expert resources for its growing clientele in games localization.
Standalone memoQ translator pro licenses cost EUR 620 (USD 770) + VAT with 1-year of Support and Maintenance Agreement (SMA). SMA included in the purchase price.
