Best for:
Enterprise localization teams with volumes in millions of words and advanced multi-step workflows.
GlobalLink can be configured in many ways and can support custom fields. The system is modular and can be purchased with a few components only, such as web proxy for website translations, but on the whole, it is geared towards multi-step workflows and multiple vendors.
GlobalLink has a strong visual workflow builder with branching if-then logic, which can help reduce the number of project templates from 40+ to 10 in some cases. TransPerfect has an onboarding/configuration team to set this up, a professional services team for custom development, a connector team, and a business intelligence team.
History
Initially developed as a support tool at eTranslate in 1999, GlobalLink has seen large investment after the parent company has been acquired by TransPerfect in 2003. The editor TranslatorStudio is an adaptation of WordFast under a special non-exclusive deal with WordFast’s creator Yves Champollion.
As of mid-2018, more than 300 people work in GlobalLink, about 200 in the development team in Serbia, and 100 more in the US. Support is 24/7 and it is based in Singapore, Barcelona, India, and Colorado in the US.
